Indications of my music genre.

Beyonce is a very big influence to many girls in the world and is often known as 'Queen of Pop'. Her beauty and style is one of those reasons.

Also Rihanna and Jessie J are major influences to many people in the world, which gave me the idea to create a girl based music magazine as people would be very interested if they saw one of their idols in a magazine.

They are all very different but all appeal to the same audience. For these reasons is why I wanted to base my magazine on just girl pop as not many magazines just talk about how the female celebrities are in the world, it usually various. Also with just a girlie magazine it gives more options for me to talk about more things, fashion etc.

Font Planning/Steps for Music Magazine

As my music magazine is all about girl pop, I wanted quite a feminime name for my magazine. I also wanted to include the word girl to make it a lot clearer also. I was quite keen on the idea of creating an unual name for a magazine. I then wrote down a few words such as Love, Graceful, Amazing etc but I then put them in into a translator to see what they would look like if I changed to language style. I tried Love in french which I thought looked attractive for a girlie magazine.

I then typed in graceful to the translator. I did this as I wasnt so sure on the Amour title as I would be adding girl to the end of it 'Amour Girl' did quite sound catchy enough to me but I did like the sound of 'Graceful Girl' which then was translated to 'Graciuex Girl'...

When I had decided that I liked 'Graciuex Girl' I chose the best type of font I liked the words in. My decision was the top option.

I liked this as it is big and bold and stands out to the audience if it was to be placed on shelf in a store.

Readership Profile

This is my readership profile I created. It includes items that would interest a certain type of audience which would draw them into my style of magazine. I decided that I would like my music magazine to be based on the genre of  girl pop. I needed to include items that are relevant to things girls would like to see in magazine. I included things such as social networks, fashion and celebrities. Girls are interested in all the celebrities styles which links to music stars and fashion. Music stars usually influence girls. If these objects were to be included or linked to in a music magazine, it would make girls read more music magazines, especially if it was all girl based.

Examples of Photography for my Music Magazine

- I liked the idea of using this photo for a double page spread as I thought of the idea of creating the text to go around the figure. I thought that it would look good if the image was placed to one side of the page and the writing gradually got nearer to the image. When taking the image, as it is a close up shot, I made sure that the backgroud would be simple and easy to take out once put into photoshop. I just used a plain sheet which would make it much easier than a complicated/patterend background.

- This is the image I decided to use for the contents page. The way my cousin is positined in the photo is good as it is portrait and on a contents page the numbers/information all flows down once side of the page. This image fit perfectly allowing me the room for the information to go down the left hand side of the single page. I also used a plain background to make it quicker and easier when coming to desing the page. Also, this image gave me the idea to make the contents colour theme green as it fits with the small amount of colour you can see on the shorts worn.

- In some images I used props to make the photo's more realistic. I never actually used this in production as the background kept messing the image itself up when I tried to edit it. I then resorted to using more of a simple image.

- I liked this image as I really liked the camera angle. I love the way it looks as though she is towering over things and makes the image look a lot stronger. The only negative thing about the image is that the feet are not in the image otherwise it would have made a really good front cover image or contents image.

- I liked this image as it is a close up shot and is good for a contents page. It gives the auidence a mode of address.

At this stage, I was still deciding on a name for my music magazine. I had a few different names I liked so I decided to see what they would all look like in various fonts, I also looked for which one stood out the most.

College Magazine Evaluation

As this College Magazine was to help up prepare for making our music magazine I think that I have learnt many new skills. My knowledge of camera angles and shots has inproved so I know now how to make my photography better due to when I create my Music Magazine. I feel that the photos we took were okay but I feel that they could have been better. One issue Will and myself had with taking the photos is that we couldn't really find an easy place to put the camera onto self time as we both felt we needed to be in the image so it was difficult to find a good place to rest the camera.

My coomputer skills on Photoshop and InDesign have increased greatly. Photoshop I used to find very difficult and really confusing to use but now I seem to have got the hang of it and know the various tools you need to be using for you to edit your images. The difficult and fustrating thing I used to find I couldnt do well was take a background out of an image and leave it looking neat and tidy. I now feel that I know how to do this a lot better than I could.

I don't feel that my front cover is as good as it could have been. Looking at some of the features I feel I could have put more features into it to make it better. I feel that the images let down the magazine cover e.g. the way that when the background was taken out has left the edges slightly fuzzy and jagged on the edges. I thin that I could have put a background behind the image of Will and I to make it stand out more. I thought by leaving it black would make it look more neat and tidy around the egdes but it still doesnt meet up to what I would like it to have looked like, even with a plain background.

I chose to include things such as fashion and festival information as it is what interests students. I think that if a college magazine was all about college not many people would be interested in it so I thought if I included things that would interest students it may appeal to them more.

Colour Schemes:

I will use around to 3 - 4 colours on the magazine so the magazine doesnt look to crazy. I will use colours that are attractive and eye catching. I will make sure the colours flow with one another and don't clash!

Magazine Deconstruction!

The genre I have chosen for a music magazine is Pop Music (Pop Princesses). This music magazines main feautre is Beyonce. The music magzine does state that inside it has articles on Christina Aguilera and Lady GaGa but the main focus is Beyonce. The shot of Beyonce is a Medium Close Up. This is so you can focus on her features and the clothes she is wearing - 'Listen UP! Fashions New Beat'... Fashions New Beat sounds like it is a mixture between fashion and the music industry. Music and Style combined. When it comes to the beautiful girl celebrity pop singers fashion is a main focus as well as their voices and their audiences also as they do idolise certain celebritites over their fashion choices. Here, Beyonce is giving a direct mode of address to her audience and is showing herself to her full potential. She is placed in the middle as it draws to your eyes instantly and you know that Beyonce will be a main feautre of the music magazine.
